Chhim
The municipality of Chhim is the capital of Iklim El Kharroub area in the Mohafaza (Governorate) of Jabal
Lobnan. The Iklim area counts 39 settlements and Chhim is the largest one, both in terms of population (approximately 24,000)
and in terms of geographical surface (10 km2). The city is characterized by sharp internal economic, social and political
contrasts between the city center and its periphery. The center has the higher population density and size.
Families are at the core of all relations in Chhim and they play a major role in local governance. Municipal elected positions
are divided along family lines. the sh7imieh hold high govermental and military positions due to their high level of education
and courage.
